As part of ongoing international academic cooperation, the School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (SOLH) at Woxsen University, Hyderabad, India, hosted a specialized strategic webinar on February 5, 2026, organized by the Center of Excellence on Indo-Pacific Studies via Zoom.
The webinar featured Dr. Ghada Fouad, Director of the African Center for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRESS) – Egypt, who delivered a keynote lecture titled: "Egyptian Foreign Policy in a Disorderly International System: Power, Interests, and Strategic Choice."
High-Level Academic Participation
The session was attended by distinguished academic leaders from Woxsen University, including Dr. Parivelan K. M., Associate Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Humanities (SOLH), and Dr. Areeba Ahsanat Moazzam, Assistant Professor and Co-Chair of the Center of Excellence on Indo-Pacific Studies. The event also saw active participation from a large number of researchers and students specializing in Political Science and International Relations.
Strategic Balance in Egyptian Policy
During the lecture, Dr. Ghada Fouad outlined the strategic vision of the Egyptian state (Egypt Vision 2030), explaining how Cairo has successfully formulated a unique "Multi-vector" foreign policy model characterized by a delicate balance with major global powers. She noted that Egypt's accession to the BRICS+ bloc and the elevation of its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the European Union serve as cornerstones of its "Strategic Hedging" strategy to diversify economic alternatives and secure national interests.
Egypt as a Stabilizer Amidst Regional Challenges
The webinar focused on Egypt's pivotal role as a regional anchor in the Middle East and Africa. Dr. Fouad provided an analytical overview of the significant geopolitical challenges Egypt faces within its turbulent regional environment, particularly concerning the crises in Gaza, Libya, and Sudan, as well as the security of navigation in the Red Sea. She emphasized that Egypt’s "Proactive Realism" aims to defuse tensions by supporting national state institutions, rendering Cairo an indispensable partner for international peace and security.
Indo-Egyptian Academic Engagement
The webinar concluded with a rich discussion between researchers and students from Woxsen University and Dr. Ghada Fouad. During the session, she addressed inquiries regarding Egyptian policy and explored avenues for enhancing Indo-Egyptian cooperation as a vital future step for both nations. The discussion highlighted prospects for future collaboration between Egyptian and Indian research centers, particularly on issues linking Red Sea security with the stability of the Indo-Pacific region, ultimately serving the shared interests of the Global South.
