The impact of Western influence on Economic and development in Sahel Region Symposium
The African Center for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRESS), in collaboration with the International Research Institute for Advanced Systems (IRIAS) in Moscow, held a symposium titled "The Impact of Western Influence on Development and Economy in the Sahel Region" on Sunday, August 25. The symposium was attended by a large number of diplomats representing African countries in Egypt, along with professors and experts specializing in African affairs, political science, economics, and African linguistics from Egyptian and Sudanese universities. The symposium also attracted leaders of African communities and students enrolled in Egyptian institutions. It lasted for four hours, divided into three sessions, focusing on the issue of monetary subordination in the Sahel countries and the impact of the CFA franc on economic growth and development.
The first Korean-African summit: opportunities and challenges
Relations between South Korea and the African continent have witnessed remarkable development in recent years, as relations include a wide range of fields such as trade and investment, development cooperation, education, culture and other fields that enhance opportunities for cooperation and development on both sides. The volume of trade between South Korea and African countries has reached About 20.45 billion US dollars as of 2022 .
Africa and the Global Report on Food Crises 2024
Inside the Global Report on Food Crises "GRFC", the African continent was divided into four regions: Central and Southern Africa, East Africa, West Africa and the Sahel, and North Africa (Refugees). It is clear from the report that the most affected region in terms of Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) and the Cadre Harmonisé (CH) according to the statistics of the Global Report on food crises for the years 2023 and 2024 is the East African region, as about 64.2 million people, or 24% of the population, face high levels of acute food insecurity, followed by the Central and Southern Africa region, where about 49.6 million people, or 21% of the total population, face high levels of food insecurity, followed by the West Africa and the Sahel region, which recorded about 44.3 million people, or 11% of the total population.
Launch of ACRESS Center initiative to promote African women’s enterprises on its platform
African Center for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRESS) has launched initiative to support the economic empowerment of African women by promoting the products and services provided by African women, who own small and medium enterprises, on the center’s platform (www.acress.org) to share their successful projects.
