Training workshop for women from Guinea Conakry to raise awareness of women’s rights in inheritance

The African Center for Research and Strategic Studies (ACRESS) organized a training workshop for women and girls from the Guinea Conakry community in Egypt on “Women’s Rights in Marital Life and Inheritance According to Islamic Law.” The workshop aimed to raise women’s awareness of their rights and how to defend and demand them. The discussions that took place in the workshop revealed that many women lack a correct understanding of their marital and inheritance rights. The participants in the seminar expressed the great benefit they gained from the seminar, and many of them developed a desire to obtain the inheritance they left behind for fear of customs and traditions that prevent women from demanding their rights.
